Officials beware! DM’s ‘wife’ calling

Patna: Right from chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi to ministers, legislators and senior civil and police officials, she has been making calls to get former Patahi SHO Kishori Chaudhary reinstated. Since no complaint has been lodged by anyone in this regard, the woman is roaming free to make more such calls!
The woman introduces herself with different identities while beseeching the reinstatement of Chaudhary, who was sent to police lines by East Champaran SP in July this year.
Sources in the CM office say Manjhi’s secretary recently received a call from a woman who introduced herself as the wife of Kishanganj DM Animesh Kumar Parashar. She insisted on talking to the CM and when he took up the phone she narrated how Chaudhary was removed by his superior on false charges and pleaded for his reinstatement. Sources say when it was verified from Parashar, he denied the possibility of his wife making any such call.
After the call was traced, it was found to have been made from Bagaha. East Champaran SP Sudhir Kumar Singh accepted he removed Chaudhary because of his misconduct and callous approach towards his duty. Singh also revealed that he, too, had received a call from a woman who identified herself as Samastipur civil surgeon and Choudhary’s wife. “It is more than two months when I received that call and she insisted on Chaudhary’s reinstatement. Calls from superior followed. However, I did not pay heed,” said Singh, adding that the woman had been creating nuisance to officials.
JD (U) MLC Satish Kumar, who belongs to Motihari, also received more than 50 calls from the same woman for the same purpose but with different introductions. “She introduced herself as Smita, said to be Kishanganj DM’s wife and retired IPS officer Shiv Murti Rai’s daughter and a journo by profession,” said Kumar. The woman said she would send Chaudhary to meet him, Kumar said, adding, “Chaudhary himself called me several times and I told him to meet me, but he never turned up.”
Sources said she has made calls to some ministers as well for the same purpose. When asked if the police planned any action against the woman, the East Champaran SP said he was ready to take action but there was no written complaint yet. Even the Bagaha SP says he has no idea about this woman and he would take cognisance once he gets a written complaint. Chaudhary could not be contacted despite repeated attempts made on Wednesday evening.
